Des updates très fraîches de la reconstruction des plages à Cancun.
Ils ont un problème encore à Cancun, donc les travaux sont arrêtés au Mélia. C'est au niveau des fonds disponibles, la banque demande plus de garantie.
Ils se déplacent donc au Grand Porto Real pour le début des travaux, soit le 2 janvier. Ils prévoient installer le matériel le 2 janvier, et commencer à mettre le sable le 8 janvier, du sud au nord. Ils prévoient avoir terminer la plage de Riviera Maya le 29 février, et comme le prêt devrait être OK pour Cancun à cette date, ils vont retourner finir la plage de Cancun à cette date.
Très intéressant ce matin !!! De mon côté, ça veut dire que les travaux ne seront pas devant mon hôtel lors de mon passage, ça commençait à me stresser !!!

Bon, je viens de relire, désolé c'est en anglais donc j'ai fait une petite erreur.
Ils vont donc mettre du sable dans le coin du Grand Porto Real le 8 janvier.
Ensuite, ils vont se déplacer vers le 15 janvier au Sandos Playacar, pour faire la plage du Sud au Nord. Le 19 janvier, ils devraient commencer à mettre la sable au Sandos, pour finir toute la plage le 29 février.

Autre petite rectification, je crois que la plage est refaite jusqu'au Omni, donc les Oasis seraient refaits. Je n'ai pas encore vu de photos, je vous fais un suivi pour savoir exactement jusqu'où les travaux sont faits.

Je serai probablement au Riu Palace Mexico en avril 2010, les travaux devraient être complèté. J'aimerai savoir où tu prends tes informations.

La majorité des informations, je les prends d'un gars qui s'appelle Jim qui demeure à Cancun. Il intervient sur le forum de trip advisor destiné à Cancun à tous les jours. Tout ce qu'il a dit jusqu'à maintenant est vrai, donc je m'y fis pas mal. Je te mettrais bien le lien, mais je ne suis pas certaine que j'ai le droit, mais c'est très facile à trouver... Son nom est Jimincancun...

Pour les intéressés de la saga, voici l'information de ce matin :
Well, not a whole lot of news except:
1.- There is a long list of the history of the project that seems to point to the fact that the local government is the party to blame for the current suspension of the beach work for not signing the loan with Banobras Bank and having the money ready by Dec. 31, 2009. Of course the "Mayor" denies it. www.reforma.com/estados/articulo/534/1066895/
2.- Playa del Carmen (that got a loan with the same bank) deposited its share of the money on Dec. 31.
3.- They are reporting that the project stopped halfway finished with the Fiesta Americana Condesa.
4.- They will NOT be moving the equipment today as announced but will wait until Monday or Tuesday of next week. This is a good sign as that will give the local government working days to try to "fix" the problem.
More news as I get it.

This is a memo sent to members of the Riviera Maya Hotel Association. My translation. This is really all I know for now but will keep y'all posted as news comes out. I should mention that this was scheduled to begin around Jan. 15 but due to the fact that the project was suspended at around the area of the Oasis/Omni for lack of payment by the local Cancun government, they have moved the schedule for the Playa del Carmen work up.

With this memo we would like to inform you that in a meeting with Edgar Ordóñez, President of the Technical Commission for the Trust for Beach Recovery and in the name of the CFE 8company doing the engineering work) and Mexicana de Dragados, (The dredging company--Jan de Nul), they asked us to inform our members of the steps planned for the work program as related to Playa del Carmen.
This is so that the hotels will take the necessary measures to guarantee the safety of their guests and staff and facilitate the work of this important project.
The work calendar is as follows:
Jan. 2:
Start unloading of heavy machinery and tubing at the northernmost part of the project ( At Av. Constituyente and the beach - Hotel Porto Real )
Jan. 8 or before:
Begin pumping of sand from North to South.
Jan. 15:
Move heavy machinery and tubing to the southernmost point of the project ( Playacar, area next to Hotel Sandos Playacar )
Jan. 19:
Begin pumping sand going from south to north.
Jan. 29:
End of work
(This following part is in all caps in the original!) The Trust requests that instructions be given to all hotels involved for the removal of all bags, geotubes, palapas and kiosks on the beach as of Jan. 2 and progressively along with the work.
We appreciate your cooperation and coordination in facilitating the progress of this project that is so important to our destination.

J'ai lu avec intérêt vos commentaires sur les travaux
qui sont présentement effectués à Cancun.
Cela dit, je ne connais pas cette ville mais je veux m'y
rendre pour la 1er semaine de février.
Pourriez-vous m'identifier un ou des hôtels
où les travaux seront terminés à ce moment.

Bien sûr, va voir sur cette carte : http://www.cancunmap.com/cancun-hotels.html .La plage est refaite à partir de la pointe, où le Dreams Cancun. Les travaux sont terminés jusqu'à environ le Grand Melia. Passé cela, je crois que ce n'est pas terminé, donc je ne me risquerais pas aux Oasis.

Je ne connais pas Cancun car je ne l'ai jamais visité. J'y serai pour la première fois dans environ deux semaines, c'est pour ça que j'ai suivi la saga de la plage.

La suite de ce matin, le 3 janvier :
As reported last night by our very own Dangers, it seems that the Cancun beach recovery project will continue. Several papers are reporting it including noticaribe.com.mx/cancun/2010/01/reinicia_re…
Basically it says the following.
1.- Work has again started up.
2.- The program will definitely be suspended if the local Cancun "Mayor" doesn't come to his senses.
3.- The entire Trust Committee (including the Mayor) will meet Jan. 5 to decide the future of the project. "During the session we will analyse, discuss and make a decision concerning the final agreement about the reluctant Cancun Mayor, Gregorio Sánchez Martínez, and signing the Banobras Bank documents that will permit the transfer of those $230 million pesos...that will allow us to finish the project in Cancun."

The Mayor, Greg Sanchez who has classified the Trust Commission as "a farse" restated that opinion and mentioned that the decision to suspend the project was a unilateral one made by the Secretary of Tourism and not by the entire Commission. He also says that he wants to see the maintenance program and proof that it will really happen before he signs. He says he can do the project all by himself more cheaply and using Mexican dredgers.

Je suis arrivée hier d'un séjour de 2 semaines à Cancun et je peux vous dire que les 2 bateaux responsables de la restauration des plages travaillent sans arrêt. Seulement le 1 janvier ils n'ont pas travaillés. Je suis allée au centre d'achats du Hard Rock Cafe ou il y a un ''balcon view ocean'' et la plage était toute refaire au grand complet, c'était de toute beauté à comparé à l'an dernier. Moi j'étais au Beach Paradise donc encore loin des travaux en cours par contre la plage est encore très belle à cet endroit. Les travaux sont quelque part entre ce centre d'achats et le Grand Oasis car rien encore à cet hôtel n'est commencé.
